PRACTICE THE THEORY TEST
Depending on your favoured way of learning, you can either read or listen to the highway code book. You can get an app that has practice questions and practice tests in it, the best app I have found is the Driving Theory Test 4 in 1 Kit and Hazard Perception.
BOOKING YOUR THEORY TEST
For information on booking your theory test please visit the official website, https://www.gov.uk/book-theory-test. There are other companies who will charge you a fee to book your test. Please be careful when booking – you do not have to pay any extra fees when booking through the official website. Most of the time these companies provide nothing extra for you, they simply book the test and charge you an admin fee on top of the price of the theory test. THE COST OF THE TEST IS £23
THEORY TEST DOCUMENTATION
When you go to the test centre you must bring your photocard driving licence. If you have an old-style paper licence, you MUST bring your signed licence and passport with you. In this event, only a passport is accepted as a form of photo identification. Anyone without this must apply for either a new photocard licence or a passport. Without the above identification, your test will not go ahead and you will lose your fee.
TAKING THE THEORY TEST
You will be told where to sit in front of a computer screen, when you are ready to start the test you will be asked multiple choice questions, towards the end of the questions, there is a video to watch as many times as you like, you will be then asked 3 questions about what you just watched. When all answered or the time limit of 57 minutes has been reached you will then have a very short break before starting the Hazard Perception part of the test, here you watch 14 videos and you will click a computer mouse when you see a hazard developing. There is 1 video though where you will be marked on 2 things to watch out for.
THEORY TEST PASS MARKS
Pass Mark Required for the Multiple-Choice Section: 43 out of 50
Pass Mark Required for the Hazard Perception Section: 44 out of 75
You need to pass both sections of the Theory Test to pass.
